A combi (combination) boiler provides both central heating and hot water on demand from a single unit. No hot water tank, no cold water tank in the loft, instant hot water at the tap.
A system boiler heats your central heating and stores hot water in a separate cylinder. Better for larger homes where two showers may run at once.
Also called a heat-only or conventional boiler. Works with both a hot water cylinder and a cold water tank in the loft. Common in older properties.
